This is with only Safari and Totalmix open. Just to give you an idea of what is "normal" here, I attached a readout made with the free Hardware Monitor app.
So, they've replaced just about everything, but the Mini still get's too hot. This puts the PS on top, which I figured would be best since its heat wouldn't have to pass over the logic board.įan testing is next up. What side do you face up? I tested it with the IR positioned on top. I tried the vertical positioning, and it didn't help. I've already seen the audio interface get lost. YouTube video, VLC, and USB drive access will bring the temps up quickly. Once set up it quickly got up to the 100+☌, without running any music soft.
It has more RAM (8 GB), and it’s DDR4 instead of LPDDR3. The base 2018 Mac Mini has a 3.6GHz quad-core 8th generation Intel i3 processor, instead of a dual-core like the 2014 version. They also swapped out the ram, HD, and logic board. The 2018 Mac Mini (view on Amazon) is more powerful, but it’s also more expensive than the refurbished 2014 model.
#MAC MINI 2012 VS 2014 GEEKBENCH PRO#
(Or should I get a cheap second hand Mac Pro 2010 and spend the rest on a holiday through South East Asia!)
My hunch is to go with the Mac Mini as it has received much props around these parts whereas I haven't seen much in the way of support for the Retinas (perhaps because it's just assumed that they are legit as they are the newest). Or the Latest Gen (2014) MacBook Pro 15" Retina with: The Macbook looks like something some guy has brought back from overseas on a holiday to re-sell and make a couple hundred dollars (still in the box) the mac mini has been built by a company that specializes in pimping out Mac computers. Ok I'm about to pull the trigger on one of each of these but need your guys help! Both are brand new, and both are about the same price (about $1850 US) but I am in a foreign country where the charge us in general a shitload more for everything.
